19th Plant Biology Symposium, 2013

Cellulose synthesis, structure, matrix interactions and technology

Event details

May 16, 2013 08:00 AM to

May 18, 2013 12:00 PM

Life Sciences Building, University Park, PA, USA

This conference deals with frontier research in the structure of cellulose in primary and secondary cell walls, the mechanism of its synthesis and its interaction with matrix polymers, and new uses of cellulose for energy and material applications. Disciplinary approaches range from molecular genetics, cell biology, physical chemistry and plant physiology to material science, computational biology, chemical engineering, bioinformatics and other ways of understanding this most useful of materials.

Up to 60 posters will be accommodated for registered participants.

In order to submit an abstract for a poster, you must first register for the symposium. You will receive an email with a link to submit the abstract. See Abstracts for details of preparing your abstract. Please submit your abstract promptly to be insured poster space. Four abstracts will be selected for short talk presentations at the symposium. The symposium is offering 10 travel awards of $500 each (including registration fee) for postdoc, graduate and undergraduate students who will be presenting a research poster at the program. Members of the Center for Lignocellulose Structure and Formation are not eligible. Travel funds will be based on research content and relevancy to the symposium theme as determined by your abstract submission and financial need.

In order to apply for a travel award you must first register and then submit a poster abstract. Additional travel award questions will appear during the abstract submission process when you check the "Travel Award" box. Be sure to upload your poster abstract and complete the travel award questions. Travel award applications are due on or before March 31, 2013. Notifications will be made by April 8, 2013.
